Why I insist on fixed prices

In my first year I billed by the hour. It was a bad deal, for both sides.

You as the client never knew where the budget would land. I as the contractor had a perverse incentive to work slower rather than faster.

Today I work almost exclusively with fixed prices. You know before the project starts what it costs.
